Hiring Guidefor Physiotherapists

Enduring pain or experiencing trouble in movement? Then Physiotherapy is the right answer.

What is Physical therapy or physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy, also abbreviated as PT, is the use of physical movement, mechanical forces, electric stimulation, and exercise regiments to aid in repair, remedy and recovery from physical problems, injuries and problems with mobility & functions. Physiotherapists or Physical therapists, certified professionals perform the therapy. The various methodological stages of treatments undergone by patients are:

  • Examination – Either your primary care provider (PCP) or a physical examiner can check your general health and physical status.

  • Diagnosis – Identify and analyze the result of the physical examination conducted by PCP and present in an elaborate manner for your better understanding.

  • Prognosis – Predict the likely course based on analysis of diagnosis of your physical and medical condition. This may even include forecasting likely outcome.

  • Physical intervention – This is also the treatment phase. In this stage, the actual therapy services are provided to you.

You may be referred to a PT profession following a diagnosis and prognosis. You can even consult a practicing physiotherapist of your choice to treat your injuries and problems. Each injury is different and needs to be treated with professional level specialization in the particular field. Physical therapy is a vast subject and treatment can vary as per relevant physiotherapist required. You should have a clear picture of the treatment you want to undergo in the shortest time possible. The goal of the physiotherapist is to relive you from pains and traumas. Currently, in Pune, the physiotherapy services under the health issues are broadly categorized in the following areas:

Another instance that can be related is the patients suffering from cystic fibrosis of the lungs. Chest physiotherapists use percussions, by using hand motions everyday on the chest, which drives the sputum out of the air cavity and increase expectoration. Cardiopulmonary therapy sessions benefit chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart attacks and pulmonary disorders.

  • Age related conditions: These are related to the problems when we grow in to older adult phase of our lives. This is known as the geriatric physiotherapy in the medical sphere. • Manual manipulation or mechanical intervention: It helps to relax overly tight muscles, muscle spasms, and drain fluid from the swelling and improve circulation. These movements are externally induced on moving joints and soft tissues for treatments.

  • Acupuncture: It helps to stimulate the nerves with the help of needles. It dulls out the pain, regulate body function, release right muscles, and boost immune system.

  • Demonstration: It helps to educate the patients the right movement patterns and also updates the risks involved in future injuries. This helps patients in healing better and sooner.

The medication treatments are short term effective treatments but for long term, physiotherapy is effective. Physical therapy treat, manage and guide the patients. Physical therapy also extends support to prevent similar kind of future injury. It works from ground level, from reeducating or reconditioning the body, muscles and bones to its original strength. Following are some of the reasons why you must visit physiotherapist’s clinic are:

  • Saves travel time: With the busy and hectic schedule, having a physiotherapist come to door step saves time and even travelling expenditures. For instance, it is easy to describe the current condition of your chair and table which might have been the source of your back pain. The physiotherapists can solve this challenge by tackling the problem with solution suitable as per the need.

  • Involving your family members: You can involve your family with the physiotherapy treatment. Family members can get trained while they see the physiotherapists in action. This would make the treatment work faster on you, after all your family is your support system.

Attending physiotherapy sessions at the nearest physiotherapy clinic can be challenging due to time and mobility concerns. On the other hand, physiotherapist at home service is in high demand as it can be taken at your own convenience. Below are physiotherapy session benefits at home:

  • Sports injuries: Sportsmen and athletics may have a never say die spirit when faced with heavy challenges but when it comes to injuries that pose a risk to their careers, it can be a major life-changer for them. The best answer is to seek out the professional help of a physiotherapist and get out of harm’s way. Certified physiotherapists (trainers) can help relax the muscles and bones, which in turn improves mobility, performance and efficiency of movement. They also offer guides on the correct form of movement and these can be a jewel to athletes that can’t risk suffering a future injury.

  • During pregnancy: From the conceiving stage to delivery of the child, women undergo drastic physical and mental changes. The weight of the baby inside the womb alters the body posture of the women. Mood swings, emotional instability, depression and extra body weight are some of the reasons physiotherapy sessions are a must. Physiotherapy does not include medicines which might be harmful for the baby.

  • Weight management: Weight and shape are one of the main concerns for almost everybody. Some prefer heavy rigorous workout while some prefer long distance walk and run, but instead a small session of physiotherapy will relax muscle and help in boosting the energy. This also aids in digestion which allows better consumed food assimilation and minimize fat storage on the body.

  • Chronic pain: We all have that habit of brushing aside and continuing our daily chore of activities. Most of the time, we buy OTC medicines, but then the pain haunts us and situation aggravates out into an insidious one. So, opt for physiotherapy exercises which provide long term relief to some of the stubborn problems, rather than relying on pharmaceutical temporary medicines.

  • Before and after surgery: For faster and efficient patient recovery, surgery preparation beforehand and after the surgery is very crucial. Certain musculoskeletal issues need to be redressed sooner for quick comeback from sickbed. Medicines are a strict no as they bring in their own share of side effects to the health of patients.

  • Curing Sleep Apnea: Sleeping troubles???? Sleep apnea differs from insomnia, and can be disturbing for you and as well as your partner. Some of the symptoms are inability to breathe properly, pauses in breathing or shallow breathing periods and accompanies loud and disturbing snores. Though this does not sound dangerous, but a short supply of oxygen to brain from normal breathing, can impact health and quality of life. The blocked nasal passage can be unblocked with physiotherapy and overall body relaxation. The same treatment can worked for other pulmonary problems like asthma as well.

  • Treatment of pelvic floor disorders: Pelvic floor disorders are common in women who had undergone abdominal surgery, hysterectomy or child birth. This leads to discomforts in bowel and urinary movements. You can deal these physiotherapy problems for long term health benefits.

  • Relief from ailments related to the bone: Long hours in front of desktop can result in health ailments such as arthritis, fibromyalgia (a widespread musculoskeletal pain) rheumatoid arthritis, and other conditions resembling hyperthyroidism. These ailments are common in young generation and as well as adults. Physiotherapy can provide quick and lasting solutions to these problems caused due to sedentary lifestyle.

  • Treatment for accidental injury: Physical therapy provides one stop solution to injuries arising out of accidents that result in broken and damaged bones. Repair and replace damaged bones can result in host of other ailments. Physiotherapy is the answer here with better results, self-awareness about mobility and flexibility in the least time.

  • Rehabilitation: For longer and lasting effects in injury, trauma and damage, a natural approach to recovery is advisable. Physical therapy offers a means to quicker healing, recovery and results even in the serious ill conditions. Physiotherapy is inexpensive and does not have side effects.
