Pre wedding shoots are a crucial part of wedding photography, capturing the carefree, lost in love moments before the wedding. There are many themes to choose from for your pre wedding shoot, depending on how you want to lock your pre wedding moments! Here are some great tips if you want to go for a scenic pre wedding shoot, locking your memories in poetic photographs.

1. Location

Location is a very crucial part, especially for a scenic shoot, where improvising on a location will be a big compromise. Go for secluded, scantily populated, even abandoned landscapes like deserts, historical buildings or ruins, quiet beaches, hidden forests, and hills. Some great locations are the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Thar Desert, Leh and Ladakh, Alleppey in Kerala, deep forests of the Western Ghats, salt marshes of Rann of Kutch and so on. Invest in the travel, for this is one investment you will cherish all your life, and get unbeatable pictures.

2. Timing

Timing is key when it comes to taking scenic pictures. In a populous and touristy nation such as ours, it can be hard to find seclusion. However, if you make the effort of rising up before the world says hello, you are sure to have beautiful pictures with just the two of you in it. Try to catch the lighting just before and after sunrise and sunset. Scenic places usually have unusual weather conditions. Make use of the opportunity and plan the shoot around times when the skies are dramatic, the clouds are at play or the wind is blowing just right.

3. Photographer

It is impossible to get great photographs, no matter your location, without a great photographer. Go for a photographer who specialises in scenic photography. Hold meetings with him, view his previous works, and most importantly make sure you share a good bond and understanding with him / her, as he / she will be capturing your truest and most emotional moments.

4. Set the Mood

The ambience will not be a problem if you have made the right choice of location and nailed the timing. However, you may feel conscious knowing that you are being clicked. Loosen up, talk to each other, listen to your favourite love songs, reminisce about your most cherished memories and get lost in each other. Forget about the purpose of the photography and just be natural with each other.

5. Your Look

You are soon to get married and like most to be brides or grooms, you are focussing a lot on your looks and fashion. However, the essence of a scenic photo shoot lies in the innocence of moments and being captured in your natural element. Avoid heavy makeup or bright outfits and go for little or no makeup, natural hair and muted tones in outfits. This way you will become a part of the story that nature narrates.

These tips are sure to help you form immaculate memories in beautiful photographs before your wedding!
