The easiest, and hence, most common way of using apple cider vinegar in weight loss is to drink it! When mixed with other healthy ingredients like lemon, honey, cayenne pepper, and ginger, apple cider vinegar drinks help with weight loss, improve digestion, and flush out toxins.

Our editorial team found this drink quite tasty (yes we did try these, before recommending them to you!) with the sweet and sour balanced well. The apple cider vinegar has its own warming effect, besides the warm water.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • Juice of 1 freshly squeezed lemon
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or more if you like it sweeter)
  • 1 glass warm water

Directions: Take a glass of warm water and add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to it, along with honey. Next, add the lemon juice, and mix well. We recommend sipping this drink rather dunking it in a single go.

Apple Cider Vinegar With Honey

If the idea of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice sounds too sour for your taste, you can substitute the latter with a pinch of cayenne pepper.  Cayenne pepper, a South American chilli known for its detoxifying properties, is available in well-stocked stores in most Indian cities. In case you are unable to find it, the Indian substitute for cayenne pepper is red chilli powder. Be sure to use only a pinch.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or more if you like it sweeter)
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper or red chilli powder
  • 1 glass warm water

Directions: Mix the cayenne/chilli powder into the honey. Add the apple cider vinegar next and mix well. Add this paste to the warm water. Stir and drink up, slowly.

Apple Cider Vinegar With Ginger

  • 1 glass warm water

Directions: Steep the ginger slices in hot (not boiling) water for 5 – 10 minutes. This will release the juices inside the slices into the water. Add the apple cider vinegar and honey. Stir and drink up.

The Apple Cider Vinegar Diet Everyone Keeps Talking About

What is the apple cider vinegar diet the internet at large and Hollywood celebs in particular keep talking about? It is sipping two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar diluted with water before lunch and dinner. The pectin fiber in the vinegar gives you the feeling of being full, and so, controls your portion sizes! It also helps food digest better, absorb nutrients, and keep your metabolism in check.

You can combine the apple cider vinegar diet to virtually any diet, since all it takes sipping vinegar before meals. However, we advice taking it moderately. We also advice, not coupling this diet with apple cider vinegar weight loss drinks. Do one, or the other.

What Are Some Common Apple Cider Vinegar Side Effects?

Too much of any good thing is a bad thing. Being an acid, the consequences of excessive ACV intake range from the dental to the gastrointestinal. These are the common apple cider vinegar side effects:

  • It can erode the tooth enamel
  • It can cause burning sensations in the throat
  • It can make you feel nauseous

Which brings us to the next question…

So How Much Apple Cider Vinegar Should You Drink a Day?

2 tablespoons worth of undiluted apple cider vinegar is the safe dosage per day. You can have it either in the form of detoxifying drinks in the morning, or before meals. We do not recommend doing both. It would also be a good idea to give the body a break from apple cider vinegar every alternate month.
