You might have just one or you might have them all, either way, hair problems in any magnitude cause much distress. Our beauty expert took note of all your questions and came up with a suitable hair treatment for each hair problem.

To eat a healthy diet rich in protein and folic acid to combat thinning hair. You can take supplements to reduce hair fall but do consult a doctor first. If that doesn’t help, get a hormones test. In case you lead a stressful life, there’s nothing better than meditation combined with simple yoga stretches to ease the tension.

2. Dry Hair

Unsuitable products, excessive shampooing, hard water, or a scalp condition.

Firstly, to not blindly use just any shampoo for dry hair. This includes your preferred hair mask for dry hair too. Few people are know that wrong products are the largest cause for dry hair. Instead, use brands and products that actually suit you. The best way to do that is to buy sachets or samples and test them before buying a big bottle. Also, avoid washing your hair with shampoo more than 3 times a week. If the problem persists, get your hair and scalp checked by a trichologist. Use a good hair mask for dry hair as part of your hair care routine.

3. Dandruff

Poor hygiene, a dry scalp, or sensitivity to certain hair products.

Keep your hair and scalp clean by using a anti-dandruff shampoo till the dandruff disappears entirely. Another tried and tested anti-dandruff treatment is massaging your scalp with a solution of lemon juice and water. To avoid a reaction to products, always test products before using them regularly, as a precaution.

4. Split Ends

A trim every 1-2 months. This is the best hair treatment for split-ends. When conditioning your hair, use a wide-tooth comb to spread the conditioner evenly. You can even use a leave-in conditioner for extra softness. Since split-ends are a sign of weak hair, a healthy diet rich in folic acid would fortify the strand’s outermost cuticle and protect it from breakage.

5. Itchy Scalp and Greasy Hair

A dirty scalp, or even allergic reactions

To wash your hair with shampoo 2-3 times a week. However, since excessive shampooing can also reduce the scalp’s natural oils, you can use a dry shampoo on days your hair feels too greasy.

6. Frizzy Hair

Unsuitable products, or weather conditions that are incompatible with your hair.

To use cold water and sulphate-free shampoos to wash your hair 2-3 times a week. Avoid washing every day as that would only make your hair drier, therefore frizzier. Use a wide-toothed comb when your hair is wet, and a boar bristle brush when it’s dry. Pre-shampooing is also a good tip for frizzy hair, especially if you have curly hair.

7. Grey hair

A vitamin B12 deficiency, or due to hereditary factors.

To load your diet with foods rich in B12, like meat, eggs, milk or B12-fortified soya. If premature greying runs in the family, you need to dye your hair regularly.

8. Lice

To use medicated shampoo for lice. To remove dead or live lice, use a fine-toothed comb 8 to 12 hours after shampooing. Be sure to soak combs and brushes in boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes. Avoid using regular shampoo one to two days after, and continue checking lice and nits (lice eggs) for two to three weeks.
