Not only can liquid foundations be used for dry and oily skin types, they’re available in a wide range of coverage options, from light coverage to even out the skin tone, to heavy coverage to cover enlarged pores and dark marks. This Lakme liquid foundation gives sheer coverage to even out your skin tone with a matte finish. It feels light on the face and is great pick for daily wear. And at Rs.250 for a 30ml bottle, it is also easy on the pocket. On the flip side, the limited shade range covers only light to medium skin tones.

Oily skin types will should definitely try this Maybelline liquid foundation a go. In terms of shades, Maybelline’s Fit Me has a wide range of 15 shades that covers most skin complexions. True to its name, this Maybelline liquid foundation gives your skin an evened out flawless, poreless, matte finish that lasts long. However, the coverage is between sheer to medium, making it difficult to hide blemishes and fine lines.

Medium coverage with semi-matte finish | Price: Rs.550
Colobar’s Aquafeel Pro Liquid Foundation is a great pick for dry skin types since it hydrates the skin. It gives medium coverage with a semi-matte finish. The drawback here is it’s limited shade range – it has only five shades. It’s too creamy for oily skin types to use, and they will have to set it with a powder. During summer months, it’s not very good at controlling sweat and oil, which makes the foundation fade faster.

Do not get bogged down by that tongue twister of a name! This full-coverage liquid foundation from the NYX brand hides light blemishes well. It’s also available in 15 shades which cater to most Indian complexions. However, the water-based foundation doesn’t stay on for more than 2-3 hours (which is quite a pity for this price) . Oily skin types can set it with a powder to make it last longer. Dry skin types should use a moisturiser before applying.
Medium coverage with matte finish | Price: Rs.799
A foundation with a sunscreen is must-have in your daily-makeup kit. Not only does this Revlon liquid foundation feel light on the face, it is packed with natural ingredients like green tea, jojoba extracts, and oatmeal to nourish the skin. All this makes it a great pick for sensitive skin types. However, the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation range comes in just three shades! Some extremely dry skin types might find the foundation too cakey in spite of using moisturiser.

If you want a youthful, dewy finish, this LA Girl liquid foundation is good choice for you. Available in a diverse range of 16 colors, this foundation gives full coverage and stays on all day. It is also paraben-free (parabens are known to disrupt hormonal activity). Oily skin types would find the formula too creamy. Some may even find the price too steep.

Also, dry skin types will have to moisturise before applying this foundation.

There’s a good reason why MAC liquid foundations have so many fans. For starters, MAC Studio Fix comes in 30 shades that cover most Indian skin tones. It also comes added with SPF which makes it good choice for daytime makeup. It also lasts all day, for a good 8-10 hours. The medium-full coverage formula hides light blemishes and reduces the appearance of pores. On the down side, it is a costly foundation, but many would argue that it is worth the cost.
Full coverage with natural finish | Price: Rs.2670
If you have oily, acne-prone or blemished skin, this Clinique liquid foundation is tailor-made for your skin type. Clinique’s Anti-Blemish Solutions liquid foundation conceals acne marks and blemishes. Its special formula also controls acne and minimizes further skin eruptions. However, with just 8 shades, it does not fit all Indian skin tones.
Full coverage with matte finish | Price: Rs.3700
If not for that costly price tag, we’d crown Bobbi Brown’s liquid foundation the king (or queen, rather) of our best liquid foundations list. It comes in 30 skin shades, it stays on for 16 hours, and comes added with sunscreen (light skin complexions might have problems with the limited coverage of SPF15), it gives full coverage and hides acne scars well, works well for oily and dry skin types, and comes paraben/sulphate/phthalate-free – it’s even vegan friendly! HUDA Beauty says that they have done extensive research into skin complexions and skin tones, and it shows in their 30-shade foundation range. It gives full coverage – you won’t find the need to apply a concealer in the case of light blemishes – and a matte finish. While the formula works well for oily skin, dry skin types will need to moisturise their face to avoid the foundation cracking up.
